On 28th November 2022, SOMIRENEC held a Community Peace Dialogue at Lami Nyeusi, West Pokot County. The meeting targeted herders and warriors who are key in ensuring that peace is restored along the border of Pokot and Turkana. More often, the area experiences insecurity challenges.
The meeting resolved that there is need for a police station to be situated at Sarmach so that they can respond whenever a raid has taken place, Formation of a warrior’s peace committee comprising of 30 representatives from pokot and 30 from Turkana communities. Lastly, hold cross border campaigns involving warriors from both communities among other solution offered.
