The European Union in Kenya through SOMIRENEC, in collaboration with the office of the District County Commissioner (DCC), Meru County and the DCC Isiolo County, Peace Cops and National Police Reservists, held cross border peace forum with elders from Meru, Turkana, Borana and Samburu at Amuthumba area.
The forum aimed at strengthening inter-ethnic peaceful coexistence, establishing a cohesive programme of working with the administrative personnel especially the Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs in security monitoring, reporting on early warning and information sharing. The forum established a police network across the border in order to enhance community policing and coordination of early warning feedback and response.
Drought Resilience through sustainable livelihoods is a four year project, implemented in Isiolo County in a consortium of 5 partners, whereby SOMIRENEC is implementing the Peace and Conflict management activities.
