Social Ministry Research Network Centre, under the Building Resilience project through sustainable livelihoods in Isiolo County, Funded by the European Union in Kenya, held a Boma Peace meeting that involved women of Gotu Location in Isiolo County. The meeting was also attended by the representative of Deputy County Commissioner; Merti Sub-County and Anti-Theft Police Commander who were able to interact with women and listen to their security challenges.
Key to this was to build the capacity of women to realize their rights to security and safety. The meeting underscored the role of women in peacebuilding so as to have a strong women-led voices in peacebuilding at household and community levels. In the project, SOMIRENEC implements Peace Building and Conflict Management initiatives.
