Community peace dialogues are very important in building a cohesive society where people congregate at the smallest unit to discuss insecurity issues affecting them and propose possible solutions. In this regard, SOMIRENEC conducted an Inter Community Peace Dialogue meeting at Manyatta Zebra Location in Garemara Ward.
The meeting brought together representatives from Turkana and Samburu Communities, with the aim to mitigate livestock theft and come up with measures to have grazing patterns so that resources are shared equitably by the entire pastoralist communities in Garemara. With the support of the Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) and the National Police Service (NPS), the local community members agreed to keep stolen livestock. A reporting mechanism was streamlined so as to strengthen Peace monitoring and sharing of early warning information.
