Support to Resilience project in West Pokot County – Trauma healing and Reconciliation process

🔷The goal of trauma healing is to give victims a feeling that they have control over their lives again. Judith Herman, an American psychiatrist identifies three stages of trauma that victims move through as part of the healing process: safety, acknowledgement and reconnection.
🔷In this regard, Somirenec under the #USTAHIMILIVU project held a trauma healing session on the 16th of February 2023 at Chesta teachers training college in County Government of West Pokot 🇰🇪. The session targeted victims of insecurity caused by banditry attacks from the borders of Elgeyo marakwet and Turkana Counties. They were supported to share their experiences and how they feel.
🔷Some of the challenges they face as a result of the loss of their loved ones is providing food, school fees and medication for the children left behind.
#USTAHIMILIVU is a four year project funded by the European Union in Kenya and is implemented in partnership with Northern Rangelands Trust, E4Impact Foundation, Amref Health Africa in Kenya and CEFA – Kenya & Somalia.
