Reintegration

The process of reintegration into the society or family can be difficult, especially after a long period of separation from one’s relative’s/ family members. children get separated from their loved ones due to various circumstances such as poverty, abandonment, neglect, conflicts etc.

SOMIRENEC’s Education program funded by New Life for Children has partnered with Shelter Children’s Home in ensuring the reintegration process is swift and that it is for the best interest of the children. Last week Friday, we witnessed the reintegration of 17 children into their families. The occasion was marked with joy and happiness as parents and their children begin a new chapter in their lives. During the ceremony, the children officer #KajiadoCounty encouraged the parents to embrace education and pay close attention to the children.

Somirenec held a successful mentorship training on the 21st to 24th August 2023 Shelter Children’s Home in Kibiko, Kajiado County. The training brought together young boys and girls from Shelter Children’s Home and its environs who come from different schools in the country.

🔹The participants were taken through self-awareness, self-esteem, adolescence and its challenges, holistic growth and life skills, stress and anger management, friendship and relationships and peer pressure, sexuality, behavior change, Religion and spirituality and Christian values, Stages of development and Developmental crisis in teens and sexually transmitted diseases.

 among others.

🔹The overall goal of the program was to empower teens and pre-teens to make informed decisions in life as they grow up.

The European Union in Kenya through Somirenec in partnership with the office of the County Commissioner and the National Police Service distributed learning materials to the Kipsing’ Shepherd School learners who have embraced adult learning.
